"The tomb is empty. The curse is canceled. And your name is written in freedom."
Resurrection Sunday at RIG DFW was a powerful encounter with the presence of God and a bold reminder of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. This wasn’t just another Sunday—it was a divine reset. A holy moment. A revelation of victory.
Apostle John preached a powerful and freeing message titled “He Took It Away” that echoed deep into the hearts of everyone in the room. Through Scripture, worship, and the move of the Spirit, we were reminded that Jesus didn’t just die—He substituted Himself for us. And when He got up from the grave, He left every sin, shame, curse, and accusation buried.
“He didn’t just cover it—He canceled it.” – Apostle John
What Did He Take Away?
In Colossians 2:13–14 (NIV), the Word says:
“When you were dead in your sins... God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; He has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.”
That’s not poetic—it’s legal. That “certificate of debt” wasn’t just a metaphor. It was everything the enemy used to accuse you:
Every generational curse
Every past mistake
Every disqualification
Every silent struggle
NAILED TO THE CROSS. FOREVER CANCELED!
This means you are not trying to earn God's approval—you already have it through Jesus. You are not waiting to be complete—you are already complete in Him (Colossians 2:10).
The Gospel is Our Foundation
From Hebrews 2, Apostle John reminded us that Jesus was made like us, walked like us, and died for us. Why? So He could break the power of death for us and bring many sons and daughters into glory.
“But we do see Jesus... now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.” — Hebrews 2:9 (NIV)
This is the gospel: Jesus became the curse, so we could receive the blessing (Galatians 3:13–14). The power of Resurrection Sunday isn't just that He got up—it's that He brought us with Him.
We’re not just forgiven—we’re free.We’re not just saved—we’re sealed.We’re not just hopeful—we’re heirs.
The Room Was Ready... and So Were We
Apostle John concluded with leading many to say “yes” again—yes to freedom, yes to rededication, yes to grace. Hands lifted. Eyes full of tears. Hearts finally able to breathe again.
This Resurrection wasn’t about religion. It was about release. He took it all away—so you could finally live free.
What’s Next: Family & Baptism Sunday
The celebration continues this weekend with Family & Baptism Sunday at RIG DFW! Every last Sunday of the month, we gather together as one big family—and this one is extra special as we witness lives publicly declare their faith through baptism.
If you’ve never been baptized or want to rededicate your life through water baptism, sign up here. And even if you're not being baptized, we encourage you to bring your entire family and celebrate what God is doing in the lives of others.
Reflection + Action Steps
Take a moment to re-read Colossians 2 and Hebrews 2. Let the Word remind you that your freedom is finished, not pending.
Ask yourself: What are you still carrying that Jesus already took away?
Come expectant this Sunday. Whether you’re getting baptized or simply showing up with your family, believe God for a fresh encounter.
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36
He took it away. Now it’s time for you to walk in it.
We’ll see you Sunday at 10:30 AM.
I am so glad He took everything that was not like Him away from me.
